Could someone explain...

"This budget item is goal" checkbox, and
"Savings" radio button

What I'm looking for is a way for the software to help me be accountable to squirrel away money for a few longterm purchases. Hoping the "goal" or "savings" aspects may help. I've tried envelope budgeting before, but that approach seems too fine-grained for me. Just want something to help me come up with a down payment on a car, or build up an emergency fund, etc.

New to Prospects. Love how it gives me a quick, meaningful, easily digestible single-window look at my finances.

Hello!

Thanks for checking out Prospects! Goals and Savings are two things that help you budget.

Goals should be used for any categories that are not fixed each month that you would like to track. For example, you might have a clothing goal of $50 a month, or a gas goal of $200 a month. Then, in the Budget Advisor, you can toggle to a view that shows only your Goals. So it just a way to break out the areas that aren't necessarily fixed and that you want to be able to view easily.

Savings is way for you to budget savings. So you can see when you're planning your budget how much of your money is going towards savings. You can then track this in the Budget Advisor as well to see if you're actually saving what you're intending to save. Prospects allows you to category transfers, so you could categorize a transfer to a savings account as some "Savings" category and then you will be to see it in the Budget Advisor.

Please let me know if you have any other questions - thanks!
